Celebration of the 70th anniversary of the European School System and the European School Luxembourg 1/Kirchberg
On Thursday 19 October 2023, the European School Luxembourg 1/Kirchberg celebrated the 70th birthday of the European School System and thus also the 70th birthday of the European School Luxembourg 1 as the oldest European School. The management of our school was invited to the big celebration with conferences and discussion panels in the ballroom of the EELux 1. Many prominent people were present, e.g.: Mr. Andreas Beckmann - Secretary General of the European SchoolsMr Manuel Bordoy - Deputy Secretary General of the European Schools Mr Claude Meisch - Luxembourg Minister of Education Roberta Metsola - President of the European Parliament Directors of many European Schools and Accredited European Schools Inspectors of the European School System Greetings via video messages were sent by Mrs Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission and a former pupil of the European School in Brussels, among others.
In addition to the two discussion panels on "European Schools and Expectations/Visions/Ideas for the 21st Century" and "The Opening of the European School System", there were many opportunities for those present to exchange ideas with other visitors to the celebration. To liven things up, congratulatory videos on the 70th anniversary of the European School System were shown between the individual contributions. These videos were recorded by the management or by pupils from other European Schools, among others. Our school also recorded a congratulatory video, which I would like to share with the readers of this article. Cheers to the next 70 years of the European School System!!! |
