Drop Everything And Read

Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) is an initiative of our school for S1, S2 & S3 year levels, aiming at fostering a love for reading among students. The concept is simple: at a designated time, everyone stops what they are doing and spends a set amount of time reading a book of their choice.

This practice helps to build a habit of regular reading, improve literacy skills, and encourage a lifelong love of books. This initiative not only enhances reading skills but also provides a quiet and focused environment for students to immerse themselves in their books. The benefits of the project are multifold:

1. Improves Literacy Skills: Regular reading practice enhances vocabulary, comprehension, and overall literacy.

2. Fosters a Love for Reading: By allowing students to choose their books, DEAR encourages a lifelong love of reading.

3. Reduces Stress: Reading can be a relaxing activity that helps reduce stress and improve mental well-being.

4. Builds Focus and Concentration: DEAR time helps students develop the ability to focus and concentrate for extended periods.

In conclusion, the DEAR initiative helps foster a lifelong love of reading among students while enhancing their skills and well-being, providing a supportive environment for personal and academic growth.
